SmallCapData is a free ASX small cap screener that algorithmically scans over 2,200 ASX-listed small cap stocks up to 6x per trading day. Each stock is scored from 0 to 100 across six dimensions: technical analysis, fundamental quality, upcoming catalysts, market sentiment, momentum quality, and risk assessment. It is built specifically for Australian small cap investors and provides general information only — not financial advice.
Scout has a free tier that includes the top 10 signals per scan and basic Scout AI access. Scout Pro ($24.99/mo or $274/yr) unlocks all 2,000+ signals, full Scout AI with page context, conviction tier analysis, CANSLIM deep dives, CSV export, correlation matrix, position size calculator, and real-time alerts. New signups get a free 30-day Pro trial to experience every feature.
SmallCapData scans the full ASX small-cap universe of over 2,200 tickers up to 6x per trading day. Scan results are refreshed throughout market hours and published to the dashboard after each run. The screener covers all ASX-listed small cap stocks under approximately $4 billion market capitalisation.
Our universe starts at 2,200+ ASX-listed small caps. We then apply quality filters — minimum $5M market cap, under $4B, and minimum 10,000 average daily volume — to remove illiquid, suspended, or out-of-range stocks. After filtering, approximately 1,400+ stocks are scored each scan. Both numbers are accurate at different stages of the screening process.
Our algorithm scores each stock across six weighted dimensions: Technical (20%), Catalyst (40%), Fundamental (20%), Momentum (10%), Sentiment (5%), and Risk Assessment (5%). Data sources include ASX announcements, price and volume data, financial statements, ASIC filings, social sentiment, and search trends. Specific indicator thresholds and sub-factor calculations within each dimension are proprietary.
No. SmallCapData provides general information only. It is an algorithmic screening tool that presents calculated data points. It does not constitute personal financial advice, and we do not hold an AFSL. You should seek independent advice from a licensed professional before making investment decisions.
The conviction score (0–100) is a proprietary composite that blends multiple analysis dimensions into a single number. HIGH, MEDIUM, and LOW conviction levels reflect different tiers of algorithmic confidence. It is a quantitative starting point for your own research — not a buy/sell signal.
Unlike generic global screeners, SmallCapData is purpose-built for ASX small caps. It combines multiple analysis dimensions into a single proprietary score, using data sources specific to the Australian market that most international tools don't cover.

When you upgrade to Scout Pro, you get 7 days of full access free. Your card is charged after the trial ends ($24.99/mo or $274/yr). You can cancel anytime during or after the trial via the Stripe Customer Portal — no lock-in, no hidden fees.

Conviction tiers group signals by their composite score: VERY HIGH (80+), HIGH (70–79), MEDIUM-HIGH (60–69), MEDIUM (50–59), and LOW (below 50). Higher tiers indicate more algorithmic screening criteria were met across the six scoring dimensions. They are a research starting point — not a prediction of future performance.
The conviction score (0–100) blends six weighted dimensions: Technical (20%), Catalyst (40%), Fundamental (20%), Momentum (10%), Sentiment (5%), and Risk Gate (5%). Each dimension analyses multiple sub-factors from public data sources including ASX announcements, price/volume data, financial statements, ASIC filings, social sentiment, and search trends. The exact sub-factor weightings are proprietary.
